We join those who were there at the first Christmas, slowly coming to the Christ-child, the king of the universe, gazing at him who became a baby to redeem the world. Three wisemen and their camels, gazing at the star, trusting the king of the universe to guide them to wisdom. The shepherds gazing at the manger from a short distance, steadying themselves to meet the baby and king within. And Mary, the mother of the king himself, gazing in delight at the baby held in the arms of his foster-father, Joseph.
